At our last meeting it was decided that the Group should meet every two months.
That we would choose the 1st Thursday of that month.
That we would alternate meetings between Redditch and Bromsgrove.

Since our last meeting was in Bromsgrove, our next meeting will be in Redditch.

The Redditch and Bromsgrove Linux User Group was set up by David Goodwin, so that people with an interest in the use of the Linux Operating system could meet up socially, to discuss Linux and help each other with their computer problems.

Meetings have always been somewhat random, but at a recent meeting it was decided to fix a date in order to make meetings more regular. With the venue alternating between Redditch and Bromsgrove.

Worked “through the ranks” from Operator (Prime 50 series mini, ICL 1902S) to Systems Programmer thence Administrator. Had a limited exposure to IBM 9370 mainframe (VM/CMS) during the 1990s. First encounter with a *nix O/S was AIX on an IBM RS/6000 in '93 followed by DYNIX/ptx on a Sequent Symmetry S2000 which had a “wow” factor at the time of having two 50MHz (yes, that's MegaHertz) Pentium (4 I think) CPUs!

**
What is Linux ? I just thought that persons visiting this sight may be looking for an explanation as to what Linux is.
If you are one of those people, I hope that this following explanation may help.

Linux is an open source operating system. i.e. An operating system is a computer program that makes the computer work. The prime example of this is Microsoft's XP, Vista or widows 7.
